Full Sized Sports Ice Facility

In the face of climate change, and increasing unpredictability of snowfall, threatening the reliability of winter sports, Aviemore Ice Rink plays a crucial role in ensuring consistent access to winter sport activities for the local community and visitors.

Our goal is to build on the success of the recreational ice rink and we are aiming to return a full-sized sports ice rink to Aviemore.

This would allow Aviemore to once again host national and international ice events, which will not only help by strengthening Aviemore and Cairngorms positioning as the UK’s premier winter destination, it will also bring with it economic and social benefit for the communities of Badenoch and Strathspey.

AGCT has initiated early-stage discussions with landowners and we anticipate commencing a site options appraisal in 2024. This is a crucial step towards developing a feasibility study and robust business case which will support the trust in seeking funding for a permanent sports ice facility.
