Glenmore Campsite

In May 2022 following a buyout from the Camping and Caravanning Club Forestry and Land Scotland sought new operator(s) to run its three campsites in Scotland under long-term lease arrangements, one of which included the Glenmore Campsite.

AGCT tendered a community bid within a commercial bidding process for the lease of the Glenmore Caravan and Camping Site from Forestry and Land Scotland.

The Trust secured funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Cairngorm National Park Authority and Social Investment Scotland to engage professional services to assist with preparing and submitting a bid and secured a further £500k of funding in principle to support the community bid.

The Trust had submitted a strong proposal and a commercial bid based upon professional advice and surveys from experts within this field.  In September 2022 the Trust was advised that the bid not been shortlisted.

It was hugely disappointing that AGCT’s tender to lease the Glenmore campsite had not been shortlisted.  Following notice of the unsuccessful bid, the Trust worked tirelessly to highlight to Forestry and Land Scotland and the Scottish Government to the obstacles preventing communities from achieving empowerment and community wealth-building opportunities.

AGCT also sought the views of our members and community at a public meeting in October 2022 we received huge backing to keep looking at options for a community-led approach to the stewardship of Glenmore.
